Terms of Service

Acceptance

By accessing or using DB Stencil ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These Terms apply to all users, including free-tier and paid subscribers.

The service

DB Stencil is a visual database schema designer. It allows you to create, edit, and export database schemas in various formats including SQL and DBML. We offer a free tier and paid plans with additional features.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We will provide reasonable notice for material changes that affect paid subscribers.

Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must not share your account with others or use another person's account without permission. You must provide accurate information when registering.

You must be at least 16 years old to use DB Stencil. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement.

Your content

You retain full ownership of all schemas, diagrams, and data you create using DB Stencil. We claim no intellectual property rights over your content.

By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display your content solely to provide the Service to you. We do not use your schemas to train AI models or share them with third parties.

You are responsible for ensuring your content does not violate any applicable laws or third-party rights.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to distribute malware or engage in illegal activity
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically extract data from the Service
• Use automated tools to create excessive load on our infrastructure
• Resell or sublicense access to the Service without written permission
• Impersonate DB Stencil or its team members

Violation of these terms may result in immediate account suspension or termination.

Payments & subscriptions

Paid plans are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis. All payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.

You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you retain access until then. We do not offer prorated refunds for partial billing periods, except where required by law.

We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice. Price changes will not affect your current subscription period.

Free tier limits

The free tier is subject to usage limits (schema count, export volume, etc.) which may change over time. We will provide reasonable notice before reducing free-tier limits for existing users.

Intellectual property

DB Stencil, its logo, and the underlying software are owned by us and protected by copyright and trademark law. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our intellectual property beyond what is necessary to use the Service.

Warranty disclaimer

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free or uninterrupted.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, DB Stencil shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data or business interruption, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability to you for any claims arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Termination

You may close your account at any time from account settings. Upon closure, your schemas will be permanently deleted within 30 days. You can export your data at any time before closing your account.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, with or without prior notice depending on severity. For paid accounts, we will provide a prorated refund for unused time if we terminate for reasons other than your violation.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Estonia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Tallinn, Estonia, unless otherwise required by applicable consumer protection law in your jurisdiction.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will notify you by email at least 14 days in advance. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
